Battery Recycling

Battery Take Back Service

In order to help with the recycling of batteries we are now offering you a completely free of charge ‘Battery Take Back’ Service. This means that you can bring your used batteries to us at Battery Bandit, Battery House, 21 Lister Close, Exeter, Devon, EX2 4SD and it is our responsibility to make sure that they are recycled responsibly. This service will aid in restricting environmental pollution and remember It’s completely free of charge!

Also Remember: You do not have bought batteries from Battery Bandit in order to use our Battery Take Back Service – It’s free to all. Do not send your used batteries to us by post as they may leak and cause damage in transit. Please bring them to us at the address above. If it is not possible to bring them to us then there are many centres where you can drop your batteries off and they will recycle them for you – again for free. Visit your local council recycling facility or visit the website below where you can search by postcode for your nearest recycling point.

Many supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries and some town halls, libraries or schools may also set up collection points. End-users may find stores in their local area easier to access.

WEEE Regulations

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge. Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

For example, if a customer buys a new battery from us we will accept their old battery and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. (Customers have 28 days to return their WEEE item to us after the purchase of their new item). Alternatively the customer can have the battery recycled through one of the recycling points (as above). Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown below:

Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.
